Fabio Tavares is a Brazilian artist who’s been forever obsessed with the human body in action. He started off as a competitive Gymnast before running away to join the circus at the age of 15 and hasn’t stopped working since.
Fabio moved to NYC in 1999 and has collaborated and performed with Yvonne Meyer, chameckilerner, Miguel Gutierrez, Fisherspooner, Noemie Lafrance, Luis Lara Malvacías, Jon Kinzel, Circus Amok, John Heginbotham, Laurie Anderson,The Dazzle Dancers, Stanley Love, Anne Bogart and the acclaimed SITI Company among others. Mr. Tavares has also danced with Elizabeth STREB and her extreme-action company for 14 years where he served as the Associate Artistic Director for a decade.
Fabio’s one man show “The Ex-Body” based on the text “The Hamletmachine” by Henier Müller has been performed in Brazil, Europe and the US since 2010.
Mr. Tavares is also an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher , a certified Klein Technique™ teacher, and a Certified Zero Balancing practitioner and currently teaches at both the DGSD at Yale and The Juilliard School. For more info please go to Healthandpoise.com.
